About Us
In May, 2008 Prof. Xuanzhi Wu, a well-known scientist in the global photovoltaic researching field and his colleagues founded Advanced Solar Power INC. (Hangzhou) Ltd. Start from the beginning, ASP (Hangzhou) holds a dream that one day, China will be able to offer the most advanced Cadmium-Telluride thin-film PV modules with high efficiency, high stability and high cost-effectiveness to the worldwide market.
Three and half years later, at the end of 2011, ASP (Hangzhou) reached to a point that its dream is so close to the reality. ASP had built its first experimental line, then its first pilot line. From ~1cm2–area small PV cell to 3″×3″-area small modules and then 6″×6″ modules, ASP’s engineering team designed and optimized the entire CdTe module production process in its leading edge laboratory after thousands of rounds of experiments. And only after, a fully automatic production line that is capable of producing 1.2m×0.6m CdTe thin-film PV modules at an annual yield of 30 Mega Watts has come to true. The production line was built entirely upon ASP’s innovative CdTe module production process. It was the very first time that the technology of Advanced Closed Space Sublimation (CSS) Film Deposition Process was applied in a CdTe thin-film module production line. This technology significantly increased the usage of raw material, sped up the deposition process and improved the key film’s quality. Then, there was the buffer layer, the improved window layer, the back contact layer that gives the module much higher electrical performance. Those technologies once again had never been tried in massive production of CdTe thin-film modules. These technologies and the production line itself are ASP proprietary intellectual properties. Nevertheless, every piece of machinery in this new production line was built by the finest manufacturers in China. This single fact gives ASP’s CdTe thin-film modules an advantage in the production cost started from the beginning.
ASP has never stopped its effort to optimize the CdTe thin-film PV module production process and as well the production line to bring up the quality and the quantity in its massive production of CdTe thin-film module. Since October, 2011, such effort has only been more emphasized on. As of today, the average efficiency of those modules came off the production line is 12%, the average output power is 80 Watts. Nowadays, ASP owns 4 main product lines: ASP-S1, ASP-S2, ASP-ST1 and ASP-ST2. Both ASP-S1 and ASP-S2 have been tested and certified by TUV Nord for EU, UL for North America and Golden Sun for China. It also has been proven and testified by both ASP’s own experimental power plants and as well a number of famous EPC companies worldwide that ASP CdTe thin-film PV modules are capable of generating 5-10% more electricity year-around comparing to its counterpart – the Crystalline Silicon modules. The ASP’s thin-film module products have been shipped to 17 countries worldwide and received high remarks for their exterior looks, exceptional power generation performance, and the last but not the least their high cost-effectiveness.
BIPV, a “Blue-sea” in the photovoltaic application market has attracted the interests of ASP lately. Since 2 years ago, ASP has devoted its entire researching team and hundreds of thousands of dollars in designing and producing thin-film PV modules that fit to the requirements of construction environments.
